Letter From Our Founder, James Andrews

The New Orleans Musician Fund was established by the Treme Heritage Culture Foundation, a 501(3) c, which has a well-deserved reputation for protecting the legacy and history of New Orleans’ distinct cultural traditions and heritage.  Faced with the challenges of local musicians who have dedicated their artistry and lives to the love of New Orleans’ music and the stress placed on their families when they pass, both financial and emotional, we saw the need and decided now was the time to act.

The campaign is led by formidable New Orleans musicians as well as the family members of musicians. These musicians, their families and friends who are united in their belief their loved ones, who dedicated their lives to the heartbeat of New Orleans, deserve the dignity of a proper burial and jazz funeral. Realizing none of our musicians nor their loved ones should dishonor their loved ones without a proper New Orleans style goodbye, the fund was established in earnest.

Whether it be through our giving campaign, our annual New Orleans Bacon Festival or an endowment, your support and donations keeps jazz funerals alive for all musicians, regardless of funds.
